Description

This product is an accessory to the Chair Pad Sling (sold separately) and can also be used with some other slings. The Chair Pad Sling will hold the patient in a comfortable safe position, and it is highly unlikely a patient will ever slide out or fall from the sling. However, the optional Chair Pad Sling Safety Belt can be attached for nervous patients who may feel more secure knowing the belt is holding them in.

Key Features

  • Accessory for the Chair Pad Sling (sold separately).
  • Provides additional security for nervous patients.
  • Can be used to restrain the patient’s arms if necessary.
  • Requires Restraint Authorisation for use as a restraint.

Additional Information

Simply pass the belt webbing through the handles on the back of the Chair Pad Sling, then do up the buckle in front of the patient. Adjust to the correct fit by sliding the webbing through the buckle, keeping in mind that the belt should not need to be done up very tightly.

General Public Restraint Authorisation Letter: If this product is purchased for use as a restraint in a private home, we require authorisation from a suitable person. This is to ensure it will be used correctly and safely by the family and/or carers, and that using it will not be dangerous. Examples of a suitable person who is able to sign the letter are: Occupational Therapist; Physiotherapist; Clinical Nurse Manager; Registered Nurse; Doctor; or another suitably qualified person. Note: This letter is not required when we send restraints to aged care facilities or hospitals, because their staff are already trained in their safe use.

Cleaning

Hand or machine wash, up to 80°C (176°F). Cool tumble dry or air dry in shade. We recommend using a Pelican Washing Bag to help prevent the webbing getting caught in some washing machines, and to give a longer life to the material. Ensure the product is dry before using or storing. Store in shade away from direct sunlight. If defective, withdraw from use and contact Pelican.

Important

WARNING: Only use the Safety Belt as a restraint if all other alternatives have been tried. Ensure Restraint Authorisation has been obtained. Restrained patients should be kept under observation, as their behaviour may alter and another restraint may be more appropriate. Restraints are a prescribed item. The wrong restraint or the correct restraint incorrectly fitted can cause injury or even death.
