Description

The Hand Splint & Padded Cover is supplied cut ready to be heated in boiling water. It can be used on either the left or right hand. Once heated in boiling water and the plastic is pliable, mould it around the patient's hand and wrist, or even the therapist's own hand and wrist. To protect the skin from the heat, put a towel on the hand before moulding the splint to shape.

Key Features

  • The correctly finished Hand Splint is placed in the padded cover, designed for either the left or right hand.
  • Two splints are supplied with the cover; the thinner splint becomes pliable in about 20 seconds in boiling water and is easy to mould.
  • The thinner splint allows the wrist to slightly flex, which may be beneficial for some patients.
  • If a stronger splint is needed, the thicker splint can be used, though it takes longer to heat before becoming pliable.

Additional Information

Once the shape is correct, the splint can be quickly cooled by holding it under cold water. The thumb flaps are folded to avoid a seam touching the skin between the thumb and first finger. If alterations are necessary, parts of the splint can be reheated and remoulded.
