Description

The Heat Sealed Mattress is generally used in mental health facilities. It is designed with all internal seams, and one external seam. This external seam is important, as it helps prevent self-harm. The foam is a relatively dense foam, which helps prevent the seams popping if the mattress is under stress.

Key Features

  • Waterproof, breathable, 4-way stretch vinyl cover
  • Custom size options available
  • Two types of materials:
    • Waterproof, 4-way stretch material
    • Heavy duty waterproof, hospital-grade medical vinyl - Made on Request
  • Option for a sewn cover instead of a heat sealed cover

Additional Information

We recommend using the Mattress Handling Straps to help when moving the mattresses. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Cleaning

Follow your Hospital's Infection Control requirements. Wipe clean with a hospital grade disinfectant. Do not use any abrasives or scrubbing brushes on the material. Test on a side edge if unsure. Wipe dry and air dry in the shade.

Important: Ensure that all parts of the Mattress are completely dry before using or storing.

Important

Although every effort is made to ensure the seams are soft, we recommend you keep users under constant supervision, in case they use any part of the mattress to hurt themselves either accidentally or deliberately. Note: The Heat Sealed Mattress has a life of approximately three years, depending on amount of use and abuse, correct cleaning, storage etc. Over time, the waterproof coating may wear off due to cleaning and shearing from patients getting in and out of bed, as well as turning. It can be difficult to tell if the coating is still intact, so please inspect for any signs of the coating coming off. Signs can include a glossy appearance, and the material feeling stiff or brittle. The material may also exhibit 'crazing', which is a network of fine cracks - in this case the Mattress' waterproof properties will be compromised.
