In 2005, the Department for Education and Skills advised primary schools that they should introduce the teaching of social and emotional skills into the curriculum. Social and Emotional Learning in Circle Time has been written to support schools in helping to teach children such skills, including how to get along with one another, feel appropriately confident in themselves, and know how to think about (and respond to) challenges in their lives. It provides 10 sessions per term of circle time for each class group in ages 5-11.
