Description

The NEW, REVISED 2nd Edition of The Processing Program—Level 1 helps students listen to and process increasingly complex directions and concepts. Level 1 targets 46 basic concepts and vocabulary words from the categories of singular and plural nouns, pronouns, sizes, colours, quantities, prepositions, and conjunctions. The 2nd Edition includes:

  • Updated, full-colour illustrations
  • 11 new levels
  • 161 picture plates (42 more than 1st Edition!)
  • Additional concepts, sentence structures, and directions

Teachers will also learn how to use the Altered Auditory Input (AAI) technique to make commands easier for each child to process and how to teach this technique to the child’s communication partners/parents.

The Processing Program—2nd Edition (Level 1) is an ideal choice to use in therapy with children who have difficulty processing or learning basic language structures and concepts, including those with attention deficit disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism, and cochlear implants. 359 pages. Now in hardback.

The REVISED 2nd Edition of The Processing Program: Levels 2 and 3 helps improve language-processing skills using a set of picture-identification tasks. Teachers learn how to identify the modifications a student needs. The program includes:

  • Language Webs, organised by linguistic concepts
  • Altered Auditory Input (AAI) technique with picture plates and commands
  • 119 picture plates for Level 2 and 65 picture plates for Level 3

You’ll learn how to identify the type of modifications needed for each child and then how to fade use of the AAI technique. The technique can be taught to the child’s communication partners, especially the child’s parents.

Level 2 targets 101 advanced concepts for children ages 6 to 9 years. Level 3 uses many of the same concepts addressed in Level 2, as well as 17 additional concepts in longer, more complex command combinations for children ages 9 to 12 years. (Age, however, is not the sole determinant for level use. For example, older children with more severe language disorders who need remediation of primary level concepts will still benefit from Level 1 activities.)

The Processing Program: Levels 2 and 3 is an ideal choice to use in therapy with children who have difficulty processing or learning language, including those with attention deficit disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism, and cochlear implants. Hardcover book with spiral binding. 407 pages.

Note: To begin The Processing Program: Levels 2 and 3 it is not necessary to complete Level 1.
